In a round bottom flask under nitrogen, 1,1-dimethylethyl (3S)-3-{[4-(4-bromophenyl)-5-oxo-4,5-dihydro-1H-1,2,4-triazol-3-yl]methyl}-1-pyrrolidinecarboxylate (3.54 mmol) in 4M HCl in dioxane (40 mmol) was stirred at room temperature for 2 h. The solvent was removed by concentration in vacuo to give the title compound as the HCl salt (1.25 g, 96% yield). MS(ES)+ m/e 322.9, 325.0 [M+H]+.
