A mixture of 3-(3-chloro-4-isopropoxyphenyl)-1-(tetrahydro-2H-pyran-2-yl)-1H-pyrazole-4-carbaldehyde (600 mg, 1.72 mmol, 1.00 equiv) in a saturated methanolic HCl (50 mL) was stirred at 25° C. for 2 h. The resulting mixture was concentrated under vacuum to give 530 mg of crude 3-(3-chloro-4-isopropoxyphenyl)-1H-pyrazole-4-carbaldehyde as a white solid. LCMS (method C, ESI): RT=0.86 min, m/z=265.0 [M+H]+.
