A solution of 3-(4-isopropoxyphenyl)-1-(tetrahydro-2H-pyran-2-yl)-1H-pyrazole-4-carbaldehyde (7.4 g, 23.56 mmol) in 3M methanolic HCl (74 mL) was stirred at rt for 3 h. The resulting solution was concentrated and triturated using diethyl ether (50 mL×3) to afford 3-(4-isopropoxyphenyl)-1H-pyrazole-4-carbaldehyde hydrochloride (5.3 g, yield 98%). LCMS (method C): RT=1.96 min, m/z=231.1 [M+H]+.
