Procedure

10% palladium carbon (40 mg) was added to a solution of 2-(6-hydroxy-4-methylbenzofuran-3-yl)acetic acid (200 mg) in methanol (3 mL), and the mixture was stirred at room temperature for 24 hours under a hydrogen atmosphere. The insoluble matter was filtered off, and then, the obtained filtrate was concentrated under reduced pressure to obtain the title compound (207 mg).
