Following a procedure similar to that described in Example 35(c), 255 mg of ethyl 4-(1-hydroxyethyl)-2-propyl-1-{4-[2-(trityltetrazol-5-yl)phenyl]phenyl}methylimidazole-5-carboxylate [prepared as described in step (a) above] was detritylated by treatment with 75% v/v aqueous acetic acid, to give 170 mg of the title compound as an amorphous solid. The Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectrum of this compound was identical with that of the compound obtained as described in Example 40(c).
