Reaction Steps

To ((S)-methyl 3-((tert-butoxycarbonyl)amino)-2,2-dimethoxyhexanoate) of Example 16 (0.8 mmol) in methanol (8 mL) was added an aqueous KOH solution (0.13 mL, 2.4 mmol, 50 w/w %) and the reaction was stirred for 20 h. pH was adjusted to pH=3 with 1N HCl and extraction with CH2Cl2 provided 260 mg of the crude acid.
