To a solution of (4-bromo-3-methylphenyl)methanol (420 mg, 2.09 mmol) in DCM (6 mL) at rt was added MnO2 (1.82 g, 20.9 mmol). The reaction mixture was stirred for 12 h, filtered and concentrated under reduced pressure to give 4-bromo-3-methyl-benzaldehyde (372 mg; yield 89%) as an oil.
