BBr3 (1.25 g, 5.0 mmol) was added to a solution of 5-[6-(4-Methoxy-phenyl)-4,7-dihydro-1-thia-4,5-diaza-cyclopenta[a]pentalen-2-yl]-pyridin-2-ylamine (0.18 g, 0.5 mmol) in CH2Cl2 (8.0 mL). After 2 hours, the solution was evaporated and washed with EtOAc, filtered, and concentrated to give the corresponding 4-[2-(6-Amino-pyridin-3-yl)-4,7-dihydro-1-thia-4,5-diaza-cyclopenta[a]pentalen-6-yl]-phenol (0.14 g, 0.42 mmol) as brown solid in 84% yield.
