A mixture of 4-[5-(4-methanesulfonyl-phenyl)-2,3-dihydro-furo[2,3-c]pyridin-2-yl]-piperidine-1-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester (190 mg) and trifluoroacetic acid (0.40 mL) in dichloromethane (3 mL) is stirred at room temperature for 2 h. The reaction mixture is diluted with dichloromethane and washed with aqueous Na2CO3 solution. The aqueous phase is extracted with dichloromethane and the combined organic phases are washed with water, dried over MgSO4, and concentrated in vacuo. LC (method 3): tR=0.62 min; Mass spectrum (ESI+): m/z=359 [M+H]+.
