4-(2′-Hydroxybiphenyl-4-yl)-2-methyl-2-(methylsulfonyl)-N-(tetrahydro-2H-pyran-2-yloxy)butanamide (19.6 mg, 0.044 mmol) was dissolved in methylene chloride (1 mL) at ambient temperature. To this solution was added HCl (4M in 1,4-dioxane, 0.33 mL, 1.32 mmol) and the solution was stirred at RT for 5 minutes. Methanol (100 uL) was added followed by silica gel and the mixture was concentrated to dryness. The crude material was purified via silica gel chromatography and eluted with methylene chloride/methanol to afford N-hydroxy-4-(2′-hydroxybiphenyl-4-yl)-2-methyl-2-(methylsulfonyl)butanamide as a solid. 6.5 mg
