To a chilled solution of Intermediate (viii), 4-((S)-2-methyl-pyrrolidin-1-yl)-piperidine-1-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester, (2.43 g, 9.05 mmol) in 1,4-dioxane (9 mL) at 0° C. was added 4N HCl in dioxane (6 mL) and allowed to stir for 20 h at ambient temperature. The reaction mixture was concentrated to afford an oil which was dried under high vacuum to afford 2.52 g of the title compound.
