Procedure
To a 0° C. solution of (+\−)-methyl 6-(tert-butoxycarbonyl(3-methyl-1-(6-(4-(trifluoromethyl)-1H-pyrazol-1-yl)pyridin-3-yl)butyl)amino)nicotinate (110 mg, 4.7 mmol) in dichloromethane (20 mL) was added trifluoroacetic acid (10 mL). The solution was stirred at 20° C. for 2 h. The solvent was removed under reduced pressure. The residue was dissolved in dichloromethane (20 mL) and washed with water (20 mL). The organic layer was dried over anhydrous Na2SO4, filtered, and concentrated to give (+\−)-methyl 6-(3-methyl-1-(6-(4-(trifluoromethyl)-1H-pyrazol-1-yl)pyridin-3-yl)butylamino)nicotinate (800 mg) as a colorless solid. 1H NMR (400 MHz, CDCl3) δ 11.11 (d, J=4.0 Hz, 1H), 8.76 (s, 1H), 8.45 (d, J=1.6 Hz, 1H), 8.36 (d, J=1.6 Hz, 1H), 8.17 (d, J=9.2 Hz, 1H), 7.96 (d, J=8.4 Hz, 1H), 7.86-7.82 (m, 2H), 6.59 (d, J=9.6 Hz, 1H), 4.54-4.49 (m, 1H), 3.83 (s, 3H), 2.06-1.97 (m, 1H), 1.72-1.58 (m, 2H), 0.96 (d, J=6.4 Hz, 3H), 0.89 (d, J=6.4 Hz, 3H).
