Procedure

To a solution of (+/−)-ethyl 4-((6-(4-chloro-3-methyl-1H-pyrazol-1-yl)pyridin-3-ylamino)(cyclopentyl)methyl)benzoate (78.6 mg, 0.179 mmol) in methanol (1 mL) and tetrahydrofuran (1 mL) was added 1 N aqueous sodium hydroxide (0.36 mL, 0.36 mmol). The reaction was heated to 50° C. for 10 minutes. The heat was removed and the reaction was allowed to stir at room temperature for 1 hour. The reaction was concentrated. The residue was taken up in water and acidified to pH=4 with 1 N aqueous hydrochloric acid. The resulting precipitate was collected by filtration and dried under vacuum to give the title compound (68.3 mg, 93%) as a white solid. 1H NMR (400 MHz, CD3OD, δ): 8.19 (s, 1H), 7.92-7.96 (m, 2H), 7.66-7.69 (m, 1H), 7.48 (d, J=8.4 Hz, 2H), 7.42-7.45 (m, 1H), 7.03 (dd, J=8.9, 2.8 Hz, 1H), 4.18 (d, J=9.2 Hz, 1H), 2.22 (s, 3H), 1.98-2.07 (m, 1H), 1.43-1.74 (m, 6H), 1.23-1.38 (m, 2H). MS (M+1) 411.3.
