Phenol (0.050 g, 0.53 mmol) was added to a suspension of 7-chloro-2-chloromethyl-5-methylsulfanyl-imidazo[1,2-c]pyrimidine (0.15 g, 0.53 mmol) and K2CO3 (0.21 g, 1.58 mmol) in ACN (2 mL). The mixture was stirred at 50° C. for 18 hours and then the solvents were evaporated in vacuo. The crude product was purified by flash column chromatography (silica; DCM). The desired fractions were collected and the solvents evaporated in vacuo. The product was triturated with diethyl ether and the solid thus obtained, filtered and dried in vacuo to yield 7-chloro-5-methylsulfanyl-2-phenoxymethyl-imidazo[1,2-c]pyrimidine (0.085 g, 53% yield) as a white solid.
