To a room temperature solution of 5-(4-fluoro-phenyl)-thiomorpholine-3-thione (710 mg, 3.2 mmol) in THF (20 mL) was added methyl iodide (1.1 mL, 16.7 mmol). The mixture was stirred at room temperature in the dark 18 hours, then concentrated under reduced pressure to give crude 3-(4-fluoro-phenyl)-5-methylsulfanyl-3,6-dihydro-2H-[1,4]thiazine as a hydroiodide salt, which was used directly in without further purification.
