Procedure

In 100 ml of benzene, 9.4 g of dichloroacetaldehyde diethylacetal was reacted with 5.4 g of propane-1,3-dithiol. After distilling off the benzene/ethanol azeotrope at 68° C., there was obtained a yield of 10.2 g of the title compound, nD30 1.5850. The structure was supported by analytical data.
