A solution of N-ethylcarbamate-5-methoxy-6-chloro-8-methyl-1,2,3,3a,8,8a-hexahydroindeno[1,2-c]pyrrole (from Example 3, Step A) (61 mg, 0.2 mmol) in concentrated HCl was stirred overnight at 120° C. The reaction solution was cooled to room temperature and concentrated on a speed vac. The crude product was purified by reverse-phase liquid chromatography to afford the title compound. 1H NMR (d6-DMSO 300 MHz)*7.04 (s, 1H), 6.73 (s, 1H), 3.52 (m, 1H), 3.22 (m, 2H), 2.83 (m, 3H), 2.41 (m, 1H), 1.18 (d, 3H) ppm. MS calculated for C12H14ClNO+H: 224, observed: 224.
