A mixture of 800 mg (1.38 mmol) 2-(3,5-bis-trifluoromethyl-phenyl)-N-[4-(2-bromo-phenyl)-6-chloro-pyridin-3-yl]-N-methyl-isobutyramide, 4 ml dimethyl sulfoxide and 1.15 g (6.9 mmol) (2S,4R)-2-(hydroxymethyl)-4-hydroxypyrrolidine was stirred at 130° C. for 24 h. The reaction mixture was cooled to room temperature, diluted with 100 ml ethyl acetate and washed with 200 ml 1 N sodium carbonate solution and 100 ml water. The combined aqueous layers were extracted twice with 100 ml ethyl acetate. The combined organic layers were dried over sodium sulfate and evaporated. Purification by flash chromatography gave 434 mg (48%) of the title compound as a yellow foam.
