To (5-{2-[(N-tert-butoxycarbonyl-N-ethyl-amino)-methyl]-4-trifluoromethyl-phenyl}-pyridin-3-yl)-acetic acid methyl ester (0.742 g, 1.6 mmol) in CH2Cl2 (3 mL) was added 4N HCl in 1,4-dioxane (4 mL), and the reaction was stirred at room temperature until no starting material was seen by analytical LCMS. The mixture was then concentrated to give [5-(2-ethylaminomethyl-4-trifluoromethyl-phenyl)-pyridin-3-yl]-acetic acid methyl ester, dihydrochloride.
