To a solution of (2-fluoropyridin-3-yl)methanol (200 mg, 1.57 mmol) and triethylamine (658 μL, 4.72 mmol) in CH2Cl2 (10 mL) was added methanesulfonyl chloride (269 mg, 2.36 mmol). The reaction mixture was kept at 0° C. for 30 min., poured into water, and the mixture was extracted with CH2Cl2 (2×20 mL). The combined organic layers were dried over anhydrous Na2SO4, filtered, and concentrated under reduced pressure. The product was used without further purification.
