Benzoic acid (52.75 mg) was added in one portion to a solution of N-[2-(diethylamino)ethyl]-N-(2-{[2-(4-hydroxy-2-oxo-2,3-dihydro-1,3-benzothiazol-7-yl)ethyl]amino}ethyl)-3-[2-(1-naphthyl)ethoxy]propanamide (0.25 g) in methanol (2.5 mL) producing a clear solution. This was stirred at room temperature for 1 h then the solvent was removed in vacuo. The residue was stirred in acetonitrile (5 mL) at room temperature for 16 h then the solvent was removed and methyl t-butyl ether (10 mL) was added. This mixture was stirred at room temperature for 3 h before the title compound was collected by filtration. The title compound was isolated as an amorphous solid.
