Lithium hydroxide (2 g, 47.7 mmol) was added to a solution of 5-(4-bromo-phenyl)-3-methyl-isoxazole-4-carboxylic acid methyl ester (7 g, 23.6 mmol) in MeOH (50 mL) and H2O (10 mL), and the reaction was stirred at 60° C. for 1 hour. Acidic work-up the title compound.
