Procedure
To a mixture [1-(4-fluorophenyl)-1H-pyrazolo[4,3-c]pyridin-4-yl]-methanol (20 mg, 0.08 mmol), 3-trifluoromethylbenzylamine (71 mg, 0.41 mmol) and sodium cyanide (4 mg, 0.08 mmol) in THF (2 mL) was added manganese (IV) oxide (107 mg, 1.23 mmol). After 30 minutes, additional manganese (IV) oxide (107 mg, 1.23 mmol) was added. After 18 hours, the reaction was filtered through a pad of diatomaceous earth and concentrated in vacuo. The mixture was purified by silica gel chromatography eluting with a gradient of 0-5% methanol in dichloromethane to afford the title compound as a yellow solid.
