To a suspension of 7.0 g of 1-[2-(3,5-dichloropyridin-2-yl)-2-oxoethyl]-1,3,5,7-tetraazatricyclo[3,3,1,13,7]decan-1-ium bromide in 70 ml of ethanol, 7 ml of concentrated hydrochloric acid was added, and the mixture was stirred at room temperature for 14 hours. After completion of the reaction, the solid was collected by filtration and washed with 15 ml of ethanol to obtain 3.7 g of the desired product as white crystals.
