A mixture of 1-(bromomethyl)-2-fluoro-4-iodobenzene (1.89 g, 6.0 mmol) and a solution of diethylamine (2.19 g, 30 mmol) in EtOH (60 mL) was stirred at rt overnight under N2, then concentrated in vacuo. The residue was dissolved in EtOAc (100 mL), and washed with water (100 mL×3) followed by brine (100 mL). The organic phase was concentrated in vacuo to give the title compound as colorless oil (1.72 g, 94%).
