To a solution of 1-benzyl-3-methyl-piperidin-4-one (2.04 g, 10 mmol) in EtOH (20 mL), was added pyridine (20 mL, 0.25 mol) and hydroxylamine hydrochloride (0.70 g, 10 mmol). After being stirred at 90° C. overnight, the resultant solution was concentrated in vacuo to give the crude product 1-benzyl-3-methyl-piperidin-4-one oxime. LCMS m/z: 219 (M+H)+. This material was used without further purification.
