To a solution of 3-[1-(ethylsulfonyl)-4-piperidinyl]-5-[3-(hydroxymethyl)phenyl]-1H-indole-7-carboxamide (52.0 mg, 0.120 mmol) in THF (10 mL), MnO2 (360.0 mg, 3.5 mmol) was added at ambient temperature. The resulting suspension was stirred overnight, filtered through celite, and the solid rinsed with THF (3×10 mL). The filtrate was concentrated to give the title compound (51.0 mg, 98%) which was used in the next step without purification.
