To a solution of 2-bromo-N1,N1-dihexylbenzene-1,4-diamine (4.40 g, 12.4 mmol) in EtOAc (120 mL) was added acetyl ketene (1.57 g, 18.7 mmol), and the mixture was stirred at 80° C. overnight. The mixture was cooled to rt and concentrated in vacuo. The residue was purified by a silica gel column chromatography (PE/EtOAc (V/V)=10:1) to give the title compound as colorless oil (5.10 g, 94%).
