To a solution of 3-[1-(ethylsulfonyl)-4-piperidinyl]-5-(4,4,5,5-tetramethyl-1,3,2-dioxaborolan-2-yl)-1H-indole-7-carboxamide (50 mg, 0.11 mmol) in dioxane (3.0 mL) and H2O (1.0 mL) was added 4-bromo-2-furancarbaldehyde (58 mg, 0.33 mmol), potassium carbonate (89.8 mg, 0.66 mmol), and tetrakis(triphenylphosphine)palladium(0) (14 mg, 0.012 mmol). The reaction was heated in the microwave for 20 min at 150° C. to give 58 mg of 3-[1-(ethylsulfonyl)-4-piperidinyl]-5-(5-formyl-3-furanyl)-1H-indole-7-carboxamide.
