The product of step (i) (29.8 g) was dissolved in methanol (60 ml) and treated with 4M hydrogen chloride in dioxane (60 ml). The mixture was stirred at room temperature for 2 hours, cooled to 0° C. and neutralised with 3.5% aqueous ammonia solution. The solid was filtered off, washed with water then methanol and dried Yield 27.2 g.
