Procedure

Trifluoroacetic acid (1 ml, 1.48 g, 7.08 mmol) was added to a stirred solution of N2-[(1R)-1-methylbutyl]-8-(methyloxy)-9-(tetrahydro-2H-pyran-2-yl)-9H-purine-2,6-diamine (0.613 g, 1.833 mmol) in methanol (10 ml). The resultant mixture was stirred for 66 hours under an atmosphere of nitrogen and then evaporated to give the title compound as an off-white solid (0.690 g).
