Procedure

4.17 g of N-(3H-Imidazo[4,5-b]pyridin-6-yl)-formamide in 100 ml methanol and 100 ml concentrated hydrochloric acid were stirred 1 hr at 60° C. The solvents were evaporated and the residue dried to yield 4.3 g of the title product.
