To a solution of N-but-3-en-1-yl-4-methoxyaniline (340 mg, 1.92 mmol) in methylene chloride (5 mL) was added K2CO3 (530 mg, 3.80 mmol) and acryloyl chloride (234 μL, 2.88 mmol) at 0° C. After 15 min., the reaction was quenched with NaHCO3 (2 mL, sat. aq.) and the organic layer was isolated, concentrated and subjected to flash chromatography (Hexanes:EtOAc 4:1) to yield N-but-3-en-1-yl-N-(4-methoxyphenyl)acrylamide (395 mg, 89%).
