Procedure
A stirred mixture of 6-(4-fluorophenyl)-5-(4-pyridyl)-2H-pyridazin-3-one (105 mg, 0.40 mmol) and phosphorus oxychloride (2 ml) was heated at reflux for 2 h. It was evaporated, followed by co-evaporation with toluene and drying of the resultant product in an oil pump vacuum for several hours. Then dichloromethane was added and dil. ammonium hydroxide to neutrality with cooling. The organic solution was washed with water, dried and evaporated to leave the title compound. MS (m/z): 286.0 (M)+; C15H9ClFN3 requir. 285.7.
