Procedure

To a solution of 6-(1-hydroxy-(3-fluorophenyl)methyl)-3-methyl-1-(2-methylpropyl)thieno[2,3-d]pyrimidine-2,4-(1H, 3H)-dione (Example 51) (957 mg) in trifluoroacetic acid (7 ml) was added then poured onto 10% sodium hydroxide and extracted with ethyl acetate. The organic was then poured onto 10% sodium hydroxide and extracted with ethyl acetate. The organic layer was dried over magnesium sulfate and then concentrated in vacuo to a viscous oil. The oil was purified by normal phase HPLC to give the title compound (82 mg).
