Procedure
8.13 g of (4-chlorophenyl)-succinic anhydride (0.0386 mole) and 6.3 g (0.0386 mole) of Schiff base, prepared from 3-methoxybenzaldehyde and ethylamine, are refluxed in 100 ml of xylene at 140° C. for 12 hr. After cooling to 0° C. the solid is collected and washed with xylene and ether: 11.5 g (84%) of title compound mp 153°-6° C. (diastereoisomeric mixture).
