A mixture of 6-(4-aminophenyl)-3(2H)-pyridazinone (3.78 g, 0.02 mol) and diformylhydrazine (1.76, 0.02 mol) are heated together at 220° C. for six hours. The solid mass is chromatographed and finally crystallized from acetonitrile/methanol to yield the product 4,5-dihydro-6-[4-(4H-1,2,4-triazol-4-yl)phenyl]-3(2H)-pyridazinone, mp 292.5°-293° C.
