Procedure

To a solution of tert-butyl 2-(5-(N-(2-(dimethylamino)ethyl)-methylsulfonamido)-1,3-dioxoisoindolin-2-yl)acetate (300 mg, 0.705 mmol) in dioxane (8 ml), 4M HCl in dioxane (1.763 ml, 7.05 mmol) was added, and the mixture was heated under microwave irradiation at 100° C. for 2 hours. The volatiles were removed under vacuum and the crude was purified by trituration with Et2O affording after filtration 2-(5-(N-(2-(dimethylamino)ethyl)methylsulfonamido)-1,3-dioxoisoindolin-2-yl)acetic acid hydrochloride (250 mg, 0.616 mmol, 87% yield), MS/ESI+ 370.0 [MH]+).
