Trifluoroacetic acid (7.0 mL) was added to tert-butyl 3-(cyanomethyl)-3-[4-(1H-pyrrolo[2,3-b]pyridin-4-yl)-1H-pyrazol-1-yl]azetidine-1-carboxylate (0.90 g, 2.4 mmol) in methylene chloride (7.0 mL). The reaction mixture was stirred at 30° C. for 2 h. The volatiles were removed under reduced pressure to afford the desired product (quantitative) as TFA salt which was directly used in the next step reaction without further purification. LCMS (M+H)+: m/z=279.1.
