To a solution of 1H-imidazo[4,5-b]pyridine-2-thiol (5.0 g) in acetone (75 mL) were added MeI (2.3 mL) and K2CO3 (18 g) at room temperature. After stirring for 1 day, the mixture was filtered and concentrated under reduced pressure. The residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography (AcOEt/hexane) to give the title compound (1.2 g).
