In a solution of 3-(2-Carbamoyl-4,5-dihydro-6-oxa-1,3a-diaza-benzo[e]azulen-9-ylethynyl)-3-hydroxy-8-aza-bicyclo[3.2.1]octane-8-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester (0.5 g, 1.1 mmol) in methanol (20 mL) was added HCl/EtOAc (4 M, 20 mL) at 0° C. The solution was stirred for 3 h at room temperature. The reaction mixture was filtered and washed with EtOAc to afford desired product as HCl salt (400 mg, 96%). 1H NMR: (DMSO-d6, 400 MHz): δ 9.44 (s, 1H), 9.10 (s, 1H), 8.52 (s, 1H), 8.02 (s, 1H), 7.46 (s, 1H), 7.38 (d, J=8.8 Hz, 1H), 7.08 (d, J=8.4 Hz, 1H), 4.55 (s, 4H), 3.96 (s, 2H), 2.45-2.17 (m, 6H), 1.91-1.88 (m, 2H). LCMS [M+H]+=379.0.
