To a solution of (S)-1-(tert-butoxycarbonyl)pyrrolidine-3-carboxylic acid (430 mg, 2.0 mmol) in CH2Cl2 (20 mL) was added CDl (356 mg, 2.2 mmol). The mixture was stirred at room temperature for 20 minutes, N,O-dimethylhydroxylamine hydrochloride (234 mg, 2.4 mmol) and DIPEA (258 mg, 2.6 mmol) were then added subsequently at 0° C. The mixture was stirred at 0° C. for 0.5 hour, then warmed up and stirred at ambient temperature overnight. The mixture was washed with HCl (1 N), saturated aqueous NaHCO3 and water, dried over Na2SO4, filtered, and concentrated under reduced pressure to give the title compound for the next step.
