To a solution of amide 9 (0.27 g, 0.73 mmol) in anhydrous THF (2.7 mL) was added dropwise 4-ethylphenylmagnesium bromide (3.65 mL of 0.5M in THF, 1.83 mol) at 0° C. under nitrogen atmosphere. The mixture was warmed up to room temperature slowly and stirred at room temperature for 15 h. The reaction mixture was quenched with 1M HCl solution (10 mL) and extracted with EtOAc (20 mL). The organic layer was dried over MgSO4, filtered, and concentrated in vacuo. The residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography to provide the compound 10 (0.25 g, 0.62 mmol, 85%).
