To a solution of compound 80 (2.59 g, 2.79 mmol) in THF (28 mL) was added dropwise n-butyllithium (2.5M in hexane, 2.2 mL, 5.59 mmol) at −78° C. under an atmosphere of nitrogen. The mixture was stirred for 18 hours at −78° C. to 10° C. The mixture was quenched with 1N HCl and extracted with EtOAc. The organic layer was washed with brine, dried over MgSO4, filtered and concentrated in vacuo. The residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography to provide the product 81 (2.0 g, 88%) as brown oil.
