To methyl 2-(6-chloropyridin-3-yl)acetate (2.5 g) in DCM (100 mL) was added mCPBA (4.6 g). The resulting reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 4 hr. The organic phase was washed with sat. NaHCO3, dried over Na2SO4, and concentrated. The crude product was purified by flash chromatography to afford the title product (2.5 g).
