Procedure
To a solution of 3-[5-[1-(4-cyanophenyl)-1H-pyrazol-5-yl]-3,6-dimethyl-2,4-dioxo-3,4-dihydropyrimidin-1(2H)-yl]phenylacetic acid methyl ester (prepared in Example 32) (239.6 mg) in tetrahydrofuran (2.0 ml) was added under ice-cooling sodium hydroxide (5M aqueous solution, 108 μl) and the resulting mixture was stirred at room temperature for twenty hours. The reaction mixture was washed with dietylether (15 ml), and the aqueous layer was acidified (pH=3) with potassium hydrogen sulfate and then extracted with ethyl acetate (50 ml), dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate and then concentrated under reduced pressure. The residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography (eluent: chloroform/methanol) to afford 3-(5-(1-(4-cyanophenyl)-1H-pyrazol-5-yl)-3,6-dimethyl-2,4-dioxo-3,4-dihydropyrimidin-1(2H)-yl)benzoic acid (67.2 mg).
