To a solution of di-tert-butyl {(E)-[(1-methyl-1H-pyrazol-4-yl)amino]methylylidene}biscarbamate (17.5 g, 50 mmol) in DCM (50 mL) was added TFA (50 mL) at 0° C. The reaction was allowed to warm to rt and stirred for 20 hrs. The reaction mixture was concentrated to dryness to afford the crude title compound (17.5 g, quant) as a yellow oil. 1H NMR (400 MHz, Methanol-d4) δ ppm 7.81-7.82 (d, 1H), 7.74 (s, 1H), 7.47 (s, 1H), 3.89 (s, 3H).
