Procedure

In 50 ml of toluene were dissolved 1.3 g (0.012 mole) of 4-(aminomethyl)pyridine and 1.0 g (0.010 mole) of triethylamine. Thereto was added dropwise a solution of 3.0 g (0.010 mole) of 2-(4-chloro-3-trifluoromethylphenoxy)-butyroyl chloride in 30 ml of toluene at room temperature with stirring, and the mixture was treated according to the same procedure as in Synthesis Example 10. The resultant oily substance was subjected to silica gel column chromatography by eluting with toluene to obtain 1.6 g of N-(4-pyridylmethyl)-2-(4-chloro-3-trifluoromethylphenoxy)-butyramide showing nD19 1.5228 as pale yellow oil.
