A mixture of 5-bromo-N-(2-hydroxyethyl)-6-oxo-1,6-dihydropyridine-3-carboxamide (400 mg, 1.532 mmol), iodomethane (0.114 mL, 1.839 mmol), and potassium carbonate (212 mg, 1.532 mmol) in DMSO (5 mL) was stirred at room temperature overnight. The reaction mixture was subsequently filtered and purified via preparative HPLC, eluting with a gradient of 1-30% ACN in H2O (containing 10 mM NH4HCO3) to give the title compound.
