Procedure

2-Amino-6-chloro-1-indanone hydrochloride is prepared in the same way as in Example 1 for the preparation of 2-amino-1-indanone, starting from 57.5 g of 6-chloro-1-indanone oxime p-toluenesulphonate, 3.94 g of sodium, 200 ml of absolute ethanol and 1 litre of anhydrous toluene. After 15 hours of reaction at 0° C., the precipitate formed is filtered off on Celite, the filtrate washed with water and then extracted with IN hydrochloric acid (2×500 ml) and the aqueous phase concentrated to dryness under reduced pressure. 10.5 g of expected product are obtained in the form of a brown-green solid, the melting point of which is above 260° C.
